One of the biggest trends today that you hear is about people going “green” with their houses. No need for building a house when you can easily remodel it for a fraction of the cost and still live where you are comfortable. You just need to change each room to be eco-friendly. You do not need to rush it, work on one room at a time at your own pace. Your home will not only be healthier for you and the planet but it will look better also.

With the kitchen you want to have energy star appliances. The kitchen alone uses 20-40% of the total energy of the home. Not only will this benefit the environment, you will enjoy having them lower energy bills. The kitchen faucet needs to be changed to changed to one that has an efficient aerator to save water. Light bulbs should be changed in every room to compact fluorescent light bulbs. These will cost a little more but in the long run you will save.

The amount of energy used is less and they last up to ten times longer. You will want to fix any counter tops or cabinetry that is broke.If unrepairable you should replace with materials that is environmentally friendly. You do not need to have experience in home construction to do this. The floors in not only the kitchen but throughout the house should be changed to eco-friendly materials also. This is just a few things that need to be done in your house to get you started. Be sure to research all the stuff you need to do throughout the house.
